Session Description Looking for an efficient intervention to meet the behavioral health needs of your middle and high school students? Come learn about implementing Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) as a Tier 2 intervention within the PBIS Framework. Originally developed for delivery in busy health care settings, SBIRT offers an efficient, evidence-based, and comprehensive service to address selected behavioral health concerns among adolescents (e.g., alcohol/other drug involvement). Implementation tips from the field will be shared.

Outcomes Attendees will be able to… Explore SBIRT as a potential intervention within a school’s PBIS Framework to meet the mental health needs of students Learn from school implementation barriers and successes

Assessment Connection The content of this session connects to the Tiered Fidelity Inventory: 2.3 Screening 2.5 Options for Tier II Interventions 2.6 Tier II Critical Features 2.7 Practices Matched to Student Need 2.3: Screening: Use of multiple data sources and decision rules to identify students 2.5: Options for Tier II Interventions: Multiple options for interventions exist that are matched to student need 2.6: Tier II Critical Features: Includes instruction, predictability, and feedback 2.7: Practices Matched to Student Need: A formal process is in place to select interventions that are matched to student need
