Bhagavad Gita As It Is Chapter 4 - Text 16-17 Action Forbidden Action & Inaction

Text 16-17 kià karma kim akarmeti kavayo 'py atra mohitäù tat te karma pravakñyämi yaj jïätvä mokñyase 'çubhät karmaëo hy api boddhavyaà boddhavyaà ca vikarmaëaù akarmaëaç ca boddhavyaà gahanä karmaëo gatiù Even the intelligent are bewildered in determining what is action and what is inaction. Now I shall explain to you what action is, knowing which you shall be liberated from all misfortune. The intricacies of action are very hard to understand. Therefore one should know properly what action is, what forbidden action is, and what inaction is.

Following in the footsteps of Mahajana svayambhür näradaù çambhuù kumäraù kapilo manuù prahlädo janako bhéñmo balir vaiyäsakir vayam dvädaçaite vijänémo dharmaà bhägavataà bhaöäù guhyaà viçuddhaà durbodhaà yaà jïätvämåtam açnute Lord Brahmä, Bhagavän Närada, Lord Çiva, the four Kumäras, Lord Kapila [the son of Devahüti], Sväyambhuva Manu, Prahläda Mahäräja, Janaka Mahäräja, Grandfather Bhéñma, Bali Mahäräja, Çukadeva Gosvämé and I myself know the real religious principle. My dear servants, this transcendental religious principle, which is known as bhägavata-dharma, or surrender unto the Supreme Lord and love for Him, is uncontaminated by the material modes of nature. It is very confidential and difficult for ordinary human beings to understand, but if by chance one fortunately understands it, he is immediately liberated, and thus he returns home, back to Godhead.

No one can manufacture religious principles. Dharmaà tu säkñäd bhagavat-praëétam One has to learn Dharma from a Mahajana and not a foolish scholar. By mental speculation one cannot ascertain what is religion or self-realization. Otherwise even the most intelligent men will be bewildered regarding the standard actions of Kåñëa consciousness.

Killing of Aghasura. One demon named Aghasura coming as a great Python and lying on the road with open mouth – as if a cave in the forest of Vrindavan. All the cowherd boys and calves entering his mouth with faith in Krsna and Krsna entering too and killing the demon. No discussion of this incident in Vraja for one year….reason???
