Original Contract Award-J06026C01 Awarded to Next Electric, Inc., March 2018 Construction started April 2018 Scope: Remove and recycle older, less efficient fixtures Replace over 3,400 fixtures at JIWRF

Lighting Systems JIWRF has outdated lighting technology Non-hazardous classification due to fixture location Work includes new bulbs, some fixture changes LED technology This project works towards the District’s 2035 Vision and Energy Plan. It will reduce the amount of electricity used at the plants by replacing a large number of old, inefficient fixtures and replacing them with newer lighting technology that uses much less energy.

Conditions Encountered Some planned bulb replacements could not be performed due to field conditions Fixtures were incompatible due to existing: Ballast condition Wiring configuration Brackets not matching These were issues discovered in the field that was not part of the design contract to identify.

Light Fixture Solutions Direct wire the bulbs and remove the ballasts Replace the entire fixture Option one was chosen for fixtures where it was the cheapest solution that let us keep our focus on energy credits, and we did not lose any efficiencies in the fixture by wiring through the current ballast. Option two was chosen in places where direct wiring the bulb would cost just as much as a new fixture due to the labor intensive nature of certain fixtures and their location.
