Welcome to My Class!! I am here to teach; you are here to learn. I will do my job; you will do yours, and we will together use this year wisely and beneficially. Positive attitude is the key of success. Let’s keep it all the time.

ENTRANCE Make sure you have all necessary materials for the class. Enter the classroom quietly. Put your cell phone in your assigned number pocket. Get your assigned netbook. Go directly to your assigned seat. Turn in homework if you had any.

AS SOON AS YOU ARE SEATED . . . Immediately start the bellringer that will either be posted on Google Classroom or on the Promethean Board. Complete bellringer. When you finish, wait quietly for the next direction.

DURING INSTRUCTION Listen to the teacher with full attention. No talking or whispering. Do not get out of your desk during instruction. Ask permission to speak by raising your hand. Ask questions related to the subject. Other questions which are not related to the subject can be asked after instruction. After instruction, make sure you understand the concept covered. If not, ask questions by mentioning which part you didn’t understand. Don’t just tell me you didn’t understand – I won’t know how to help you!

During Work Session Make sure you read or listen to the directions about your work and understand them. If you didn’t understand the assignment, ask help from other students sitting around you FIRST. If they also don’t understand, ask to the teacher to explain it. If you are asked to help, be polite and offer your best. Talking to each other should be no louder than a whisper. The person sitting on the other side of the room should not be interrupted by your noise. Respect each other and be friendly. Use your time wisely. Put forth your best effort at all times.

IF YOU SEE THE ‘YIELD SIGN’ . . . Stop whatever you are doing at that moment. Face the teacher and wait silently. Notify any classmates who haven’t noticed that the teacher has raised his hand. No talking or whispering. All of your attention should be given to the teacher.

DISMISSAL Clean your work area and pick up all garbage to put in the trash can as you exit. Wait for Mrs. Kerr to dismiss you. The ringing of the bell does not dismiss you. After you get permission to leave, leave quietly and be considerate of the class entering. Thank You.

HOMEWORK/QUIZ/TEST PROCEDURE You will be given homework occasionally. It MUST be turned in immediately at the beginning of class on the following day. Vocabulary or other quizzes will be given every Thursday and MUST be done in pen if not on Google Classroom. Be prepared. Tests will generally be on Tuesdays and MUST be done in pen if not on Google Classroom.

WHEN YOU ARE TARDY Go to your seat immediately and begin your work. You will not be excused from any work you that you have missed by being tardy. Get the bellringer/assignment/notes from Google Classroom and complete the work at home.

WHEN YOU ARE ABSENT Check the absent work crate on the table. Look in the day(s) folder that you missed and get any copied work from there. Computer work will be on your Chromebook. If you missed a test because of your absence, please refer to the student handbook. County policy will be enforced. Re-tests will be available upon completion of the test request form and work.

CLASSROOM RULES Classroom rules are posted on the wall and are as follows: Bring all necessary materials to class. On the rare occasion you forget, you may borrow a pen or pencil, but please return it! No gum, food, or drink (except water) is allowed. No one will be allowed to leave the classroom during instructional time. Take care of your needs before or after class. Be the FIRST to show respect to everyone! It is a sign of maturity and good manners.
