Figure 1 Distribution of Donor Risk Index (DRI) among livers transplanted into adult recipients, by transplant centers during 2005–2009. The DRI is composed of various donor characteristics, such as age and mechanism of death, that predict the risk of graft failure. To put these numbers into context, a DRI of 1.3 is associated with a 25% risk of graft failure by 3 years after transplantation, whereas a DRI of 1.7 is associated with a 33% risk.
