Example: Find the sample space for tossing a coin and rolling a tetrahedron dice (1-4) Listing outcomes {H1, H2, H3, H4, T1, T2, T3, T4} 2-dimensional grid tree diagram

NOTE 3: theoretical prob The theoretical probability is a measure of the chance of a particular event occurring in any trial of the experiment P(event) = the number of members of event E total number of possible outcomes If E is an event, then E’ is the complementary event. P(E’) + P(E) = 1

Examples: A marble is chosen from a bag containing 10 marbles, numbered 1-10 inclusive. Find the probability that the marble chosen at random is: less than 3 not 8 at least 7 P(x < 3) = 2/10 P(x = 8) = 9/10 P(x > 7) = 4/10
