2016 IRU International strategy Themes Developing new markets and opportunities to engage collaboratively Enhancing the student experience Enhancing staff competencies Policy engagement

IRU International Strategy Snapshot - Outcomes and Achievements to date IRU have completed a successful Australia Awards consortia bid in Indonesia IRU was the first group to win a NCP grant, with 12 projects approved across 2014 to 2019 Created Pakistan In-Country Manager for an initial 12 months from November 2018, with a focus on IRU engagement, opportunity identification and profile building. Malaysia Research Universities Network (MRUN) completion and wrap-up of Teaching and Learning as well as Research projects with outcomes summary published (Research tbc). IRU joined the Nicolas Baudin “Internship in France” initiative through the signing of an MoU with French Embassy in May 2018.

IRU International Strategy Snapshot - Outcomes and Achievements to date - continued Annual International Forums - shared professional development forums and learning experiences for mid-level staff. The group commissioned an IRU cut of the AUIDF iGraduate data reports Learning Abroad and Benchmarking of International Offices, and shared the high level ranking sheets of the 2016 International Student Barometer reports. IRU continued to influence policy development in both Education and Immigration portfolios and international Education Agent Quality Assurance Framework. IRU participated in the consultation on regional service provision for international students.

2020 IRU International strategy New opportunities Determining ways the group can investigate new markets in different ways (joint visits, engagement and profile building, recruitment, alumni) Continuing the strong focus on professional development activities and policy engagement and influence Exploring ways the group can share and collaborate to enhance the international student experience at IRU Consideration needs to be given to how the IRU defines itself in an international context.
