10.2 Notes: Independent vs. Dependent Events
What are independent events? Two events are independent if the occurrence of one event does not affect the probability of the other event. Are they independent? 1) Rain in Kentucky and having chicken for dinner? 2) Snowing outside and needing a winter coat? 3) rolling a 6 on a die and flipping a tail on a coin? 4) Drawing a ten of spades, without replacement, then drawing a 4 of hearts.
Dependent events Two events are dependent when the occurrence of one event changes the probability of the second event. Look for WITH REPLACEMENT or WITHOUT REPLACEMENT
