Project 7: IoT augmented physical scale model of a suburban home REU Students: Thomas Burns and Gregory Fichthorn Graduate mentors: Safa Bacanli and Sharare Zehtabian Faculty mentors: Damla Turgut and Ladislau Bölöni Week # (June 24– June 28, 2019 Accomplishments: Measured, cut, stripped wires Painted ‘lawn’ (rest of board) Created ‘cage’ to insulate heat Problem & Solutions Problem: RaPi doesn’t provide enough power to supply all of the motors/sensors. Solution: purchased/used a hat and tested. Problem: Cage was too big at first. Solution: Had to cut a foot off the top by hand. Now fits through doorways. Plans for next week: Solder hat to RaPi – had to order another hat Finish installing the cut/stripped wires Gather data
