Don’t Leave Home Without It Ephesians 6:10-18

Matthew 6:13 Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

The Day of Evil When he bombards us with so much persecution that we are tempted to give up on God. When he bombards us with such powerful temptations to sin that we almost can’t handle it. When he bombards us with so many problems and sorrows at once that we are tempted to give up on God or grow bitter towards Him.

Our battle is with . . . invisible forces. powerful forces. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. invisible forces. powerful forces. evil forces. deceitful forces. organized forces.

The Sword of the Spirit NOT: logos or graphe Rhema – a saying of Scripture, verse of Scripture, snippet of Scripture

Prayer “Most Christians pray sometimes, with some prayers and some degree of perseverance, for some of God’s people. But we are to pray at all times, with all kinds of prayer and supplication, with all perseverance, staying alert at all times, making requests for all of God’s people.” (John Stott)

How prepared are we for a satanic assault? Are we dealing honestly with God, ourselves and one another regarding our walk with God? Are we developing righteous habits of thinking, acting and speaking? Are we publicly open about our faith? Do we daily look to God to lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one? Do we possess assurance of salvation? Assurance that God’s got our back? Assurance that if God is for us, who can stand against us? Do we know the Scriptures well enough to fend off the lies of the evil one? Do we pray about all the trials and temptations that come our way?
