Flowers for Algernon By Daniel Keyes

Daniel Keyes He was born in Brooklyn, New York on August 9, 1927. After graduating from Brooklyn college, he worked as an editor for Marvel Science Fiction magazine and was also a fashion photographer. He later pursued a writing career and taught high school English. While still teaching, in 1959, he published his short story Flowers for Algernon in The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction. He won the Hugo award for best science fiction of the year. He turned the short story into a novel published in 1966. In 1968 the novel was portrayed in a movie named Charley. His novel won the Nebula Award of the Science Fiction Writers of America.
