Unit One: Getting Ready For College III. Resume Building

They like action words that are concise and to the point! 1.) Should your resume be written in complete sentences (why or why not)? No Your future employer doesn’t have the time or inclination to read tons of resumes written in complete sentences They like action words that are concise and to the point!

3.) What message does it send if you clutter your resume with too much information? It may convey to the employer that you are unorganized and can’t focus or make up your mind

4.) Identify two pieces of advice when listing references on a resume? 1.) Make sure you include complete, & correct contact information for each reference 2.) Make sure the contact will give you a positive reference

When you’re done with your resume… 5.) Identify 2 things you should do when you are done with your resume & are ready to proofread it? When you’re done with your resume… 1.) put it aside for a while, and then… 2.) come back to it with at least two different proofreaders to offer you an unbiased edit/critique of what you have done.

6.) Why should you tailor your resume specifically to match the job you are applying for? Employers are looking for specific skill sets and experiences that match the position they are trying to fill. Your resume should reflect these specific attributes
