Lesson Four The 4th Millennial Day and the Fall of Israel

1,000 years from Abraham to Solomon

1,000 years from a divided kingdom to Israel’s rejection of her Messiah.

There is more pages written in the Bible about the FOURTH millennial day than any other day.

As the FOURTH day of the Week of Millenniums began, King Solomon was still on his throne.

But it was the sins of this same man who once personified wisdom that led to the kingdom’s decline:

1 Kings 11:9-11 9 And the LORD was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned from the LORD God of Israel, which had appeared unto him twice, 10 And had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods: but he kept not that which the LORD commanded. 11 Wherefore the LORD said unto Solomon, Forasmuch as this is done of thee, and thou hast not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded thee, I will surely rend the kingdom from thee, and will give it to thy servant.

For love of David, the man after his own heart, God determined to make this change only after Solomon was dead.

1 Kings 11:12-13 12 Notwithstanding in thy days I will not do it for David thy father's sake: but I will rend it out of the hand of thy son. 13 Howbeit I will not rend away all the kingdom; but will give one tribe to thy son for David my servant's sake, and for Jerusalem's sake which I have chosen.

THE UNITED KINGDOM Asher Dan Ephraim Gad Issachar Manasseh Naphtali Reuben Simeon Zebulun Judah Benjamin King David united the 12 tribes of Israel into a strong kingdom.

THE UNITED KINGDOM Asher Dan Ephraim Gad Issachar Manasseh Naphtali Reuben Simeon Zebulun Judah Benjamin The kingdom was divided soon after Solomon’s death in 933 BC.

The Kingdom of Israel Asher Dan Ephraim Gad Issachar Manasseh Naphtali Reuben Simeon Zebulun Judah Benjamin ISRAEL The northern kingdom was called “Israel.” Her capital was Samaria. The kings of Israel did not belong to the House of David. They were often military men, starting with Solomon’s general, Jeroboam.

The Kingdom of Judah Asher Dan Ephraim Gad Issachar Manasseh Naphtali Reuben Simeon Zebulun Judah Benjamin The southern kingdom was called “Judah.” Her capital was Jerusalem. The kings of Judah were all of the House of David, starting with Solomon’s son, Rehoboam. JUDAH

In 721 BC, the kingdom of Israel was overrun by the Assyrians In 721 BC, the kingdom of Israel was overrun by the Assyrians. Those who survived were so assimilated into that culture that eventually they were no longer considered Jews. They were called “Samaritans.”

The Kingdom of Judah lasted only about 100 years longer.

In 606 BC, the Babylonians launched the first of three invasions.

In the first invasion, Daniel and the princes of Judah were captured In the first invasion, Daniel and the princes of Judah were captured. Ezekiel the priest was among those taken in the second invasion.

In the third, the House of God was raided of her treasures and torn down. Jerusalem was destroyed. Those who survived joined the others already in captivity.

But even as the Judeans were being carried off into Babylon, God told Jeremiah of a NEW covenant that would restore his chosen people. This covenant is declared in Jeremiah 31. It is the subject of the book of Hebrews.

Jeremiah 31:31-34 31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: 32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:

33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. 34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

But much would have to happen before this new covenant could take effect.

A long period of foreign overlords in the Promised Land was revealed to the prophet Daniel.

God gave Daniel the interpretation to a dream seen by King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon: All but the final part of the dream came to pass during the 4th Millennial Day.

Daniel 2:31-33 31 Thou, O king, sawest, and behold a great image Daniel 2:31-33 31 Thou, O king, sawest, and behold a great image. This great image, whose brightness was excellent, stood before thee; and the form thereof was terrible. 32 This image's head was of fine gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of brass, 33 His legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay.

The Maccabees gave the Jews 100 years of independence.

The Judea of Christ’s time was under Roman rule.

These four stages all happened during the 4th Millennial Day.

The reign of the antichrist is still future.

The Babylonian Captivity lasted 70 years.

In 538 BC, Cyrus of Persia conquered Babylon In 538 BC, Cyrus of Persia conquered Babylon. Cyrus allowed the Jews to return to Jerusalem to rebuild their temple and their lives.

The Old Testament ends in 424 BC with the Judeans living under Persian rule.

More than 400 years passed before the time of the New Testament.

The Gospels begin with the story of the birth of John the Baptist.

When the people chose Barabbas, the fall of Israel was complete.

When they crucified their Messiah, the fate of Israel was sealed like a tomb.

In a few short years, the land of Israel would no longer even be on a map.

But as a new millennial day began, something most unexpected occurred.

The door to salvation opened to the Gentiles.

That is the subject of the next lesson.
