Storage of biomethane in MOF for automobile industry LTU Storage of biomethane in MOF for automobile industry 2019-08-27 Low Energy Density of methane Expensive fuel station Heavy tank Compressed at 250 – 300 bar MOFs are used in cylinders to store gases for running vehicles at low pressure Problem with the natural gas in vehicle is that it requires highly compressed natural gas which requires high expensive fueling station and heavy tanks. Activated carbon in nanoscale looks like sheets of highly crumbled paper. It has many small and randomly size spaces where gases can stick. Some of the pores are big and some are small , smaller than gas. Some are exactly the same size of gas. But still its not that efficient. Mofs has small arranged pores which help in storing large amount of gas in tanks per unit volume. Low CO2 emissions Low SOX, NOX emissions 1
