WELCOME TO MRS. PARKHILL’S CLASS

OUR CLASS RULES Raise your hand before you speak. Be a good listener. Treat others with respect. Do not leave your seat without permission. Always do your best!

EXPECTATIONS FROM TEACHER Always help you Always listen Be respectful of you and your things Be consistent FROM STUDENT Be here everyday Be prepared to learn Be respectful of me Always have a good attitude and be ready to work

OUR G.O. FOLDERS G.O. stands for “Get Organized”. We will use these folders everyday. Papers to be returned will be in one pocket, and papers to keep will be in the other. If you send money to school, please place it in an envelope or Ziploc bag with your child’s name, the amount, and what it’s for.

Policies and Procedures Dress Code – You can find the dress code in the student handbook. Signing out – You must sign your child out in the office, and then they will send a note to the classroom to let us know that your child is leaving for the day. Dismissal – If your child is not following their usual after school routine, I need a written note signed by you. (i.e. Sally is not riding the bus today. She is going home with Joe.) Also, on pep rally days, your child must report back to the classroom before leaving. Student absence – Please call the school and let them know if your child will be absent. Please remember that your child should be symptom free for 24 hours before returning to school. When your child returns to school, please send a note with them explaining. An absence will not be excused without a note.

Policies and Procedures Continued… Tardies – If your child enters the classroom after 8:00am, they will be sent to the office to get a tardy slip. Weather - We will not be going outside for recess if it is too hot or too cold. Clothes - You may want to send an extra set of clothes with your child. Dropping off and Picking up- After the first week, students need to come into the classroom on their own. If you are picking up your child, please plan to meet us outside at the designated parent pick up location.

OUR BEHAVIOR CHART Our behavior charts will be kept in our G.O. folders, and they will need to be initialed every night. There will be squares on the front side for me to mark behavior for the day. There will be a code on the back side to let you know what problems, if any, we have that day.

TRAFFIC LIGHT Green – This means that we had a very good day. Yellow – This means that we had a little bit of trouble. Red – This means that we had a rough day.

Homework Reading Index cards Math

Snack & Rest time Kindergarteners lunch is very early, so they need an afternoon snack. If you can, please sign up to bring a weeks supply for our class. (pretzels, goldfish, granola bars, fruit snacks, cereal, teddy grahams, animal crackers, etc.) We will be having rest time each day so please make sure your child has a towel with their name on it. We will send it home every Friday to be washed. During the fifth six weeks we will gradually take away snack and rest time to help them prepare for first grade.

Birthday Celebrations In kindergarten, we want to make your child’s day extra special, so we do allow you to bring or send special snacks on their birthday. If your child has a summer birthday, we will celebrate June birthdays in April and July birthdays in May. Cupcakes tend to get pretty messy in kindergarten, so we would prefer brownies, cookies, or any other treat that is less messy.
