Why a statewide survey? The survey originated as a component of the OEA Strategic Action Plan adopted by the OEA Representative Assembly in 2012. The Plan directs, “Organize and lead a coalition that will conduct a statewide teaching and learning conditions survey – the nationally respected TELLs survey – and to organize around the results.” These goals are reflected in the

As educators, we know that our working conditions are student learning conditions. Does your school have the positive teaching conditions necessary for student success?

The TELL Survey addresses: Time School Leadership Facilities and Resources Professional Development Community Engagement and Support Instructional Practices and Supports Managing Student Conduct New Teacher Support Teacher Leadership 5

The Details… WHO: Certified/licensed school-based educators and administrators (such as teachers, principals, counselors, assistant principals, social workers, school psychologists, etc.) WHEN: February 2016 WHERE: Administration is encouraged to offer use of the school computer lab during a staff meeting. HOW: Using your anonymous code, you can take the survey via any internet connection. Your building rep or their designee will distribute the anonymous codes at a future meeting. WHY: To make YOUR voice heard.

When can I see the Results? Results will be publicly available in April and can be accessed via the telloregon.org website. 2014 results are currently posted. Click the “Survey Results” button to see your results.

Next Steps Review your 2014 results with your colleagues and building administrators. Collaborate with your administrator to dedicate a staff meeting in February 2016 to taking the survey. Prepare your colleagues for the survey with the TELL survey talking points. Send any additional questions to telloregon@oregoned.org.
