Proposal 2018-37 Women’s Beach Volleyball – Actual and Necessary Expenses

SA is a participant in both beach and indoor volleyball SA is a participant in both beach and indoor volleyball. SA decides to compete in both beach and indoor volleyball competition throughout the summer. SA participates in a beach volleyball competition and receives prize money. How does the SA calculate their prize money? If the SA uses items, such as shoes, that can be utilized in both sports how should these be classified? May use these expenses to offset prize money as long as they are not duplicated. How does legislation apply to individual that participates in both beach and indoor volleyball? Calculation of actual and necessary expenses is sport specific. How do you classify items that are necessary to participate in both beach and indoor volleyball? Expenses for items that are necessary for participation in both sports may be used to offset prize money earnings, but may not be duplicated. Example

Proposal 2018-38 Delayed Enrollment Transfer Exception Transfer SA that triggers delayed-enrollment legislation must serve year in residence. Old Rule. Proposal 2018-40 Period Between Service Commitment and Enrollment PSA permissibly delays enrollment due to service/mission exception may not continue to compete in organized competition after service commitment before next opportunity to enroll. Old Rule. Allows PSA to continue to participate in organized competition during “gap” time following end of service/mission before next opportunity to enroll. Effective Immediately. Proposal 2018-40 Period Between Service Commitment and Enrollment Effective Date: Immediate; may be applied retroactively to student-athlete with eligibility remaining in his or her five-year period of eligibility.
