Focus and Approach Students produce limited amounts of oral academic language Students need to express their thinking or opinion regarding information using oral and/or written language, citing evidence from text Teachers plan opportunities for students to produce authentic oral and written language, focusing on opinions/arguments, with lessons aligned to ELD and ELA standards A.L.L. Team Site Leadership Team TOSA District Office Staff Yolo County Staff Applying Best Teaching & Learning Strategies: Step Up to Writing, oral language strategies, and ELD standards Using Assessment for Differentiation: Collaborative A.L.L Meetings (CAALM) will occur focused on writing and oral language development data and strategies. 5. Lessons Learned/Next Steps Developed action plan for writing and oral academic language instruction through collaborative debriefing and coaching support Provide PD and collaborative debriefing support as follow-ups to Academic Language, Forms and Functions of Language, ELD Standards, and Language Objectives Monitor implementation progress and next steps bi-monthly with external support for administration and A.L.L. leadership team Attend district A..L.L. Leadership Team and A.L.L. Collaboration/Debriefing meetings A.L.L. site leaders understand the purpose of A Look At Learning Staff begins implementation and collaborative debriefing around producing authentic academic oral language and writing strategies Staff members begin to use strategies such as “longer and stronger,” “speaking in paragraphs,” and “pro/con clap.” Continue with Focus Areas and plan the focus of site collaboration days a year ahead Implement the coaching model starting with A.L.L. leadership team Continuous cycle of improvement systems still need to be solidified via collaborative debriefing and coaching for targeted initiatives
