Digital Footprint By: Jamie Purdy

What Is A Digital Footprint? A digital footprint is when you post something on the internet, search something on the internet, the data creates a digital footprint. What Is A Digital Footprint?

Passive: is when data is collected without the owner knowing Active: is when data is released deliberately by the user Passive And Active

Passive Digital Footprints Passive digital footprints can be stored in many ways. In an online environment a footprint may be stored in an online data base as a "hit” this footprint may track the users IP address, when it was created, and where it came from. Passive Digital footprints are also about what others post about you or getting tagged in a post. To control Passive digital footprints you can use your control setting, be carful what you post and be selective of which sites you join. Passive Digital Footprints

Active Digital Footprints Active digital footprints can also be stored in many ways depending on the situation. In an online environment, a footprint can be stored by a user being logged into a site when making a post or change, with the registered name being connected to the edit. In an off line environment a footprint may be stored in files, when the owner of the computer uses a Key logger ( Action of recording the keys on the key board). Active Digital Footprints

How Digital Footprints Can Effect Your Future If you are applying for a job or a school they can search up anything you have posted or searched up online good or bad. Anything inappropriate can cost you that job or school acceptance. How Digital Footprints Can Effect Your Future

Appropriate Digital Footprint Keeping your digital footprint appropriate is very important. If you have searched up or posted anything inappropriate anyone can see it, including some people you don’t want them to see it.
