Fig 1 Time course of propofol doses and blood lactate concentrations in the two girls after admission in the PICU. (a) Second mitral valve repair for mitral regurgitation on a mitral cleft in a 16-yr-old girl with Down syndrome. (b) Second operation for correction of a congenital mitral regurgitation on a mitral cleft in a 12-yr-old girl. In the two cases, heart rate, arterial pressure, left atrial pressure, and central venous blood oxygen saturation were stable. In both girls, left ventricular function was normokinetic and shortening fraction >35%, while epinephrine (0.2 μg kg−1 min−1) and milrinone (0.3 μg kg−1 min−1) were stopped at H24 and H48, respectively.
