Software Engineering By: Kenneth Byun

What is a software engineer? Software engineers would use their knowledge of coding to help people with computers. The career I chose for this project is a Software Engineer. A software engineer would do a lot of code. He or she would use code to create websites to program devices or to help fix a program. A software engineer would also help with storages and system analysis. They would look for problems in the computer and anything that seems wrong with the code inside the computer.

Training A software engineer must at least get a bachelor’s degree in math, science or software. They also need some experience with computers and its applications.

Skills Needed In any job the person needs to have certain skills to be in this career and a software engineer would need a lot of analytical skills. Analytical skills would be used to analyze the code and program of the computer. The code would be really complex so they would need analytical skills to spot weak points or errors in the code. A software engineer would also need the skills to be able to work in a group environment. This is because one job could have multiple software engineers working on it. This would mean they would need to collaborate to get the projected done. analytical and collaboration skills are key in software engineering.

Wages The average software engineer gets around 104k per year. The minimum a software engineer would earn would be around 89k per year and most a software engineer would earn would be 128k. This would be the salary of software engineers.

Job Outlook The job outlook is the amount of employment that has increased over the years. The job outlook of software engineering is 17% which is growing faster than usual. There has been an increase because of the rise of computer and the need for more software engineers.

Professional Organizations Some professional organizations would be Sigsoft, Software Engineering Institute, and CETpD.
