Presentation transcript:

Nature would select those snakes that blend in w/the desert Monday August 27th 2018 In temperate deciduous forests, snakes can come in all sizes and colors. Recent studies into global climate change are showing that temp. forests closer to the equator are at greater risk of “ecological shift” (when one ecosystem becomes another). Scientists predict that 500 years from now (2018) temp. forests, especially those in India, China and the Middle East could shift into desert ecosystems. Based on this information given…what do you think the population of snakes would look like in 1,000 years if an ecological shift took place? Nature would select those snakes that blend in w/the desert

Tuesday August 28th 2018 In a local forest, there are several species of song birds (e.g., cardinal, chickadee, blue bird, robins, etc.). Their main source of food is insects – especially the lady bugs. Take a look at the picture to the right – which color do you think will be the most favorable? Least favorable?

Wednesday August 29th 2018 Assessment Day

Thursday August 30th 2018 In the first generation, what percentage of beetles are red (bpa)? What percentage of beetles are red (apa)? 11.1% 33.3%

Red beetle population (%) increased from 50% to 80%. Friday August 31st 2018 Yesterday we saw that red beetle % increased apa. What happened to the red beetle population (%) in later generations? Red beetle population (%) increased from 50% to 80%.
