Lesson 6.2.1 Lesson Objective: Students will continue to practice writing systems of equations from word problems. Students will solve a system of equations by rewriting one of the equations so that they can use the Equal Values Method.

Homework Check Everyone should have their homework out. Resource Managers grab answer keys for each member of your team. Shoulder partners should share and discuss as you correct your homework. Reporters/Recorders take note of any questions the team might still have even after going through the answer key.

Problem 6-44 Facilitators lead your teams through Problem 6- 44 on page 319 of your book. Read the problem out loud or have someone read it while everyone in the team follows silently. Discuss the problem within your team for a couple of minutes before picking up your pens to enter your responses in the Resource Sheet and be ready to share out your answers.

Problem 6-45 Facilitators lead your teams through Problem 6- 45 on page 320 of your book. Read the problem out loud or have someone read eat while everyone in the team follows silently. Make sure you record your work on your resource sheets to earn your stamps.

Problem 6-46 Facilitators lead your teams through Problem 6- 46 on page 320 of your book. Read the problem out loud for your group or have someone in your group read it while everyone follows silently. Record your answers on your resource sheet to earn your stamps and be ready to share them out.

Problem 6-47 Open your books to page 321. Facilitators lead your teams through Problem 6-47. Read the problem out loud for your group or have someone in your group read it while everyone follows silently. Record your answers on your resource sheet to earn your stamps and be ready to share them out.

Lesson 6.2.2 Lesson Objective: Students will understand how to use substitution to solve systems of linear equations. Students will also recognize the benefits of using substitution in certain situations.

Problem 6-56 Open your books to page 323. Facilitators lead your teams through Problem 6-56. Read the problem out loud for your group or have someone in your group read it while everyone follows silently. Let’s do this problem together. Record your answers on your resource sheet to earn your stamps and be ready to share them out.

Problem 6-57 Open your books to page 324. Facilitators lead your teams through Problem 6-57. Read the problem out loud for your group or have someone in your group read it while everyone follows silently. Record your answers on your resource sheet to earn your stamps and be ready to share them out.

Problem 6-58 Facilitators lead your teams through Problem 6- 58. Read the problem out loud for your group or have someone in your group read it while everyone follows silently. Record your answers on your resource sheet to earn your stamps and be ready to share them out.

Problem 6-59 Facilitators lead your teams through Problem 6- 59. Read the problem out loud for your group or have someone in your group read it while everyone follows silently. Record your answers on your resource sheet to earn your stamps and be ready to share them out.

Exit Slip Solve problem 6-60 as a team and write your solutions on the back of your note card.
