Surviving a 3 Week Course Tena McNamara CSD

Be Prepared! Plan in detail the entire 3 weeks Do your best to stick to your plan Utilize time wisely (but don’t abuse it with all lecture)

Prepare your students Not only with materials, but with the expectations for the course A 3 week class is a full-time commitment

Focus on the most important information Provide resources for information that is not covered

Take a few minutes to review the previous days lesson – redundancy helps

Hands on activities and group work helps to enhance redundancy and keeps students engaged Play games!

Make yourself available for discussion boards for chat rooms for pre-post class meetings for office hours

Provide assignments/labs for students to complete Give extended time for completion of the assignments/labs This must be agreed upon by the students Grades do not have to be posted until all sessions are completed

Foster independence and problem solving in students
