Changes in People’s View of Women: The Progressive Era

1. Meaning: In the home, men want to be superior; giving women rights will totally change that. Women will have much more power in the home, if they are given equal rights in the government, and men just can’t handle it.

2. Meaning: Women and men both have important roles in society – neither can get along without the help of the other.

3. Meaning: It is impossible for men to really be free while they are still keeping women down.

4. Meaning: The idea of rights for women is gaining power – a lot of people believe in it now.

5. Meaning: Men can have both work and a family, and women should be able to, too. We have to figure out how.

6. Meaning: Women have control over a whole family and household, so it is really important that they are educated.
