Veteran’s Day Celebration! (wear red/white/blue) Second Grade October 29 – November 2 Goals for this week: Math We will add  up to four 2-digit numbers. I will learn to use the standard/traditional algorithm format to add and subtract. Reading We will identify how the nonfiction book is organized. We will notice new information and use keywords as part of growing knowledge. I will locate the different features of a nonfiction book so that I can understand how the book goes and grow my knowledge on a topic. Writing We will use what we learn from sketching and teaching a topic to plan our information books. I will draft an information book. Science We will observe how some objects will stick to magnets, especially objects made with iron. We will understand how magnets are used in everyday life. I will observe and investigate how magnets work. Social Studies We will identify ways public officials are elected. I will explain what traits make someone a good candidate.
