Summer Reading The purpose of summer reading is to encourage students to develop an enjoyment for reading. An information packet will be shared (digital and hardcopies) with parents, students, and teachers to include: expectations, commonly asked questions, suggested novels, how to access novels, and “book talk” framework. Students will read one of the novels from the list for their grade span or a novel of their choice.

Summer Reading Students in Honors and AP English will have an additional reading assignment, which will also be posted on the HCS website. Students will complete a “Book Talk” on the book they select and submit no later than August 23, 2019. A “Book Talk” convinces or persuades a person to read the book. The essence of a “Book Talk” is to “sell, don’t tell.”
