Compare/Contrast Essay

Parts of a Compare/Contrast Essay Introduction What is the essay going to be about? What texts will you be analyzing? Compare - Write about at least THREE similarities between the texts. Contrast - Write about at least THREE differences between the texts. Conclusion - This is your closing. Summarize what you said in the essay. Write a final statement that you want to say about your texts. Note: Whether you are comparing two, three, or more texts, you may use this format every time you are asked to compare and contrast texts.

Essay Checklist Follow all capitalization rules. Write complete sentences (no fragments and run-ons). Use correct punctuation marks (. ? ! ; ,). Use transition words to make the sentences and paragraphs flow from one to another and show connections between ideas. Use academic language. Use the formal tone and third person. Spell correctly. Write neatly!
