1 Envision 3 Outline 4 Design Our experience tells us that a successful cloud initiative is comprised of steps that produce these key outcomes during the journey. 1 Envision 2 Evaluate 3 Outline 4 Design Identify cloud opportunities Cloud service delivery strategy Cloud design Gap analysis Business case Determine the opportunities cloud offers your business based on your industry Incorporate cloud and a service delivery approach Into your IT portfolio decision process Define the conceptual and operational design of your cloud solution Analyze where you are and where you need to be in areas critical for cloud success Define the total cost of ownership, return on investment , business value or full business case of your cloud Cloud direction and scope Architectural decisions Management framework Prioritized workloads Governance and organizational impact After thousands of engagements with clients and cloud, we have seen that a successful cloud initiative is comprised of several steps that produce these key outcomes. At IBM Cloud Advisory Services, we take a collaborative approach. We weave together business insight, advanced research and technology to help give you a distinct advantage in today’s rapidly changing environment. Our integrated perspective on cloud consulting, design and implementation can turn strategies into action. Whether it is envisioning the opportunities cloud can offer your business, analyzing your gaps and infrastructure readiness, building your cloud implementation roadmap, or prioritizing what workloads you put on the cloud and how they will perform – we can help. We can also help you determine how to adjust to new services in your organization, how to make strategic systematic decisions on those services, define you architectural requirements and decisions, understand how cloud impacts your organization and governance, build your business case, design your conceptual and operational cloud and define the management framework or operating model. Composable business is the new way forward – As is composable services offered by IBM. This will enable you to have a more personalized experience geared to your needs and your point on your cloud journey and make better decisions moving forward. To accomplish this, we use a composable model. We can help you at any step in your cloud journey. This “building block” approach allows you to build the solution you need. Envisioning success in the cloud Evaluating where you are, where you need to be and which workloads to migrate: Through gap analysis Prioritization of workloads Outlining your service delivery strategy and technical blueprint Defining your service Delivery Strategy Architectural Decision and requirements Designing your roadmap for success Your roadmap will guide the journey from vision to success in the cloud. Key elements include: Business Case Cloud design Governance and Organizational Impact, and Management Framework Accessibility text: The chart depicts the four steps of the Cloud Advisory Services composable model and the capabilities in each step. The capabilities in each step are shown in parentheses here: Envision (Identify cloud opportunities, determine cloud direction and scope) Evaluate (Perform gap analysis and prioritize workloads) Outline (Determine cloud service delivery strategy and architectural decisions) Design (Cloud design and definition of the management framework) Define or revalidate the role and direction your organization will assume with cloud Determine and document overarching architectural decisions and requirements Define the management framework for the operational environment Examine new and/or existing workloads for cloud suitability and remediation Define the governance and organizational impact of cloud Pilot feedback Pilot feedback Pilot feedback Initial roadmap Current state Updated roadmap Portfolio planning Technical decisions Transition plan WUP12601-USEN-00

2 Evaluate 3 Outline 4 Design 1 Envision Define the functional and operational design of your cloud solution enabling you to specify the structure and behavior of the components. Server What we offer Storage Design your cloud solution to meet functional, non-functional and operational requirements Take a technology independent and product neutral fashion Disaster recovery Key functional components Database and middleware What you get Conceptual design Operational design Network Cloud Design. Development of the Operational Design begins at the logical level and progresses to the physical level. The logical level describes the characteristics and capabilities of the operational aspect of the system architecture in a technology independent and product neutral manner. This physical level describes characteristics and capabilities of the operational aspect of the system architecture in a technology and product dependent manner. Once the design is complete, there needs to be one more evaluation to make sure the risk points have been addressed. Accessibility text: The image on the chart is a circle labelled Key functional components with 7 lines extending outward from it. On the end of each of the lines is a circle. These circles are labelled: Server Storage Disaster recovery Network Security/compliance Managed applications Database and middleware Managed applications Security/compliance WUP12601-USEN-00
