Genre: Non-Fiction Essays (contemporary, environmental) The World Without Us by Alan Weisman Mrs. Correll September 6, 2008 [275 pages]

What would the planet Earth be like if it suddenly was no longer occupied by people?

What would the planet Earth be like if it suddenly was no longer occupied by people?

Insights In the end, no matter what people do to the planet Earth, it will survive. Some aspects of human culture will remain forever, such as plastic and nuclear waste. Some of the most spectacular sites on Earth are leftovers from ancient cultures that have just about been swallowed by nature.

Recommendation I would recommend this book to any thoughtful person who doesn’t mind working his or her way slowly through dense, often technical text. The new knowledge about the past, present and future Earth that I acquired from this book was worth the effort. It’s a book that I will keep so that I can go back and reread text as I make new connections to my world.
