Annual Professional Performance Review 2015-2016 APPR East Aurora Union Free School District February 12, 2016

Transition Rating New for Districts under 3012-c For the 2015-2016 school year East Aurora will continue to operate under the current negotiated APPR. The EAUFSD was issued a waiver from the Education Law section 3012-d and has been granted an automatic renewal of the waiver for the 2015-2016 school year

December 15,2015 The Board of Regents voted to implement a 4 year moratorium on the use of 3-8 ELA and math Common Core State Assessments and SGP on Regents exams in teacher and principal evaluation.

In 2015-2016 the APPR score and rating for East Aurora teachers will be based on the remaining subcomponents of the APPR that are not based on the grade 3-8 ELA or math State assessments or a State provided growth score on Regents examinations.

Transition Score Calculation The overall transition scores and ratings will be determined based upon the remaining subcomponents of the APPR that are not based on grade 3-8 ELA or math State assessments or a State- provided growth score on Regents exams.

Example of Transition Score 20% State Growth or SLO based on 3-8 NYS ELA or math 17/20 Points Effective Dropped because based on NYSP 3-8 ELA or math 20% Local Measure 16/20 Points 16 60% Observation Evidence of Teaching Rubric score of 56/60 Developing 56 Calculation 17+16+57=90 Transition Scoring 17+16+56=72 72 points out of 80= 72/80 or 90 Points

In 2015-2016 Schools will be required to: calculate scores and ratings (i.e. “original”)and report both. calculate transition scores that exclude 3-8 ELA and math assessments and State provided growth scores. These will be the scores you receive your on Appendix O in September

The transition period decision does not change the requirement to negotiate an APPR compliant with 3012-d by September 1,2016. The APPR Committee will continue to work together to submit the required plan by July 1, 2016.

For all employment related decisions and TIP/PIP determinations, the East Aurora School District will use the overall composite transition rating. For the purposes of reporting staff evaluation date to NYSED, both scores will be provided. Disclosures of APPR to any public domain will report both scores with an explanation of the transition score/rating.
