Introduction Those who know God have: Great energy for God Great thoughts of God Great boldness for God Great contentment in God Knowledge of God is a major determinant of faithfulness: Hos. 4:6; 2 Thess. 1:7-9 “And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.” John 17:3

Introduction Attitude is everything! “Attitude is where you are in relation to where you ought to be.” The answer to all of life’s “big” questions is the same: To Know God! Eccl. 12:13-14; Phil. 3:8-10 A matter of grace: reconciliation, restoration, revelation. A matter of personal dealing: faith meets grace. A matter of personal involvement: obedience perfects faith.

Knowing God (4): Behold Your God! The Unchanging God John 17:3

Why so important? Difficult for many to relate to the God of the Bible. Knowing God unachievable: Different God in OT vs. NT. Misconceptions of God: invent a “god” of our own making. Both conclusions are false! God today same one known by Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Elijah, Malachi, Jesus, and the apostles. The God of Leviticus is the same as the God of the beatitudes. God never changes even in the smallest detail. The Unchanging God

God never changes! God’s life does not change! Psa. 90:2; Jer. 10:10; Rom. 1:23; 1 Tim. 6:16; Jas. 4:14; Heb. 7:16; Phil. 2:5-8; Matt. 1:23 God’s character does not change! Ex. 3:9-14; Jn. 8:58; Ex. 34:5-7; Jas. 1:17 God’s truth does not change! Prov. 29:20; 1 Pet. 1:23; Heb. 6:17-18; Psa. 119:89, 151-152; Jn. 10:35; Matt. 17:5; 28:18, Col. 3:17; 1 Pet. 4:11; Jn. 12:48-49 The Unchanging God

God never changes! God’s ways do not change! Gen. 2:16-17; Ezek. 18:20; Rom. 6:23; Heb. 4:2; 1:1-2; Eph. 3:3-4; 2 Thess. 2:13-14; Deut. 8:1, 19; 1 Cor. 10:1-12; Heb. 4:11-13; 2:1-4 God’s purposes do not change! 1 Sam. 15:29; Num. 23:19; Eph. 3:10-11; 1:4-5; Psa. 33:11; Heb. 6:17-18 God’s Son does not change! Heb. 13:8; 7:25; 5:9 The Unchanging God

Some applications Same requirements as first century saints: Heb. 2:1-4; 2 Tim. 2:10; Eph. 1:3; Acts 4:12; Mk. 16:16; Acts 17:30-31 Same blessings as first century saints: 2 Pet. 1:8-11; 2 Cor. 6:16-7:1; 2 Tim. 4:7-8; 2 Thess. 1:7-9 Same pattern as first century saints: Acts 8:4; 1 Thess. 1:8; Eph. 4:11; 5:19; 1 Pet. 4:11; 1 Cor. 16:1-2; etc. Same seriousness as first century saints: Matt. 16:26; 5:6; 5:14-16; 6:33 The Unchanging God

Conclusion Do you know the “unchangeable” God? 1 Jn. 2:3-4; Jn. 17:3 Are you keeping the commandments of the “unchangeable” God? Jn. 14:15 You will only receive the “unchangeable” blessings of the “unchangeable” God if you obey Him! Heb. 5:9; Acts 2:41, 47 The Unchanging God
