February 2014 Introduction It was proposed (in 11-13-0788r4) that the TGaq protocol be named as the Service Transaction Protocol (STP). However, some TG members commented that the name should be reconsidered to precisely express what 11aq was about. In addition, within IEEE 802 community, STP is better known as the acronym for Spanning Tree Protocol. Thus, it may be more appropriate to use a different name (and acronym) for the TGaq protocol. February 2014 Discussion During the Study Group phase, this group was called SG PAD, standing for Pre-association Discovery. And Pre-association is one key characteristic of the use cases being considered by the TG. Thus, Proposal 1. TGaq use “Pre-association” (PA) in the protocol name. It seems reasonable that the protocol name should result in a 4-letter acronym, similar to ANQP, RLQP. Proposal 2.
