Cell

Cell Theory All living things are made up of one or more cells. Cells are the basic unit of structure and function in living things. All cells are produced from other cells.

Prokaryotic cells do not contain nuclei and most other cell organelles. Bacteria are prokaryotic cells.

Eukaryotic cells contain nuclei and most cell organelles.

Organelles Are tiny structures in the cell that produce energy, build and transport needed materials, and store and recycle wastes. Vacuole Golgi body Cytoplasm Mitochondria Cell membrane Ribosomes Endoplasmic reticulum Nucleus Lysosomes

DNA is responsible for providing the cell with its unique characteristics. The DNA is similar in every cell of the body. Depending on the specific cell type, some genes may be turned on or off . A liver cell is different from a muscle cell, and a muscle cell is different from a fat cell. When a cell is dividing, the DNA and surrounding protein condense into chromosomes. DNA
