Department for Local Government DLG, under the Office of the Governor, provides financial help in the way of grant and loan assistance, as well as advising local governments in matters of budget, personnel and other issues relevant to those entities Office of the Commissioner – Sandy Dunahoo Office of Legal Services Office of Financial Management & Administration ( Cities, Special Districts, Counties) Office of Federal Grants Office of State Grants Office of Field Services

Flood Control Match Program Administered by DLG, Office of Federal Grants State bond funds from the Capital Budget for cost-share match requirements Federal Sponsor U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) USDA Rural Development (RD)

Flood Projects Acquisition and relocation of homes from flood prone areas Construction and reconstruction of floodwalls and small dams Debris removal from creeks and small rivers Elevation of structures located in flood plains Levee certification and flood studies for future projects Stream flow gauges Flood inundation maps

Application Process Eligible applicants are Cities, Counties, Special Districts and Area Development Districts Year round application cycle Legally binding agreement(s) between federal sponsor(s) and any other agencies or entities involved with the project Resolution from the grantee authorizing their elected official (Judge/Mayor) to apply for the grant

Application Process Continued No maximum grant amount, but request must be reasonable based on the scope of the project and committed funds from other agencies Local match is required but may be negotiated based upon various circumstances Applications can be accessed through DLG’s website

Matching Process Standard matching process requires a local match along with federally sponsored funds DLG’s funds are used to assist local communities with the required local match funds DLG will assist with the local match by a reasonable percentage based on the amount of federal funds allocated for the project

Matching Process Continued DLG encourages the grantee to include as many funding sponsors possible Federal State Local Private Sector Any entities that will benefit from the flood control project
