Mrs. Wardwell’s Study suggestions

Buddy System 1. Make friends and share phone numbers. Share information on study guide, lab activities, reviewing for a test or questions on the homework

Outside class studying 1. Try to set aside time each day to go back over the material covered in class that day. 2. Going back over past material will help you retain information and remember it when you need to. 3. The best time to do this is after you have finished your homework.

Separate Folder 1. Designate a separate folder to hold and organize your assignments, notes, study guides etc. Being organized keeps you clear headed and allows you to retrieve homework and information much more efficiently.

Monthly Calendar 1. Please feel free to take an extra monthly calendar so you can post it on your refrigerator, notebook or in your bedroom. The monthly calendar will again help organize your thoughts, keeps you in line with the activities planned for class time and lets you know when tests are scheduled so you can pace yourself in preparation for the exam.

Study Environment 1. Well Lit. 2. Free of distractions. 3. Clean and quiet area. 4. Environment should be consistent and regular.

Cramming 1. May have worked for you in the past but now that you are in high school, studying in “CHUNKS” is the way to go. This method, done properly, will guarantee you more retention in the material for a longer period of time.

Homework 1. Completing your homework should be a #1 priority. Please remember appropriate sharing of homework.

Proper Rest 1. Planning ahead will keep you on track and organized. 2. Being organized and having a schedule will help you complete your tasks and get you to bed at a reasonable time. 3. Teenagers must have 6-8 hours of sleep consistently each night to be effective in learning and your school activities. 4. Remember, allow yourself enough time in the morning for breakfast or a snack to lift your energy level and stimulate your brain cells for learning.
