Charter Change – In general PUBLICITY PAMPHLETS Charter Change – In general

PUBLICITY PAMPHLETS Check the League Manual Check statutes Changes in what is required to be posted on your websites Pamphlet – 19-123 Argument info – 19-124A

PUBLICITY PAMPHLET Website: In addition to posting your pamphlet online (handout)

PUBLICITY PAMPHLET Website:

PUBLICITY PAMPHLETS Create and Print Early on in your process determine how you will create, print and distribute your pamphlet We created our last one in-house and had the printer print and mail We also did a 2nd mailing Others have a vendor create with content provided by you, print and distribute

PUBLICITY PAMPHLETS Printer Take care in choosing your printer/distributer Remember the printer, per statute, is responsible for pamphlets received late Good idea to include it in your RFP/contract

PUBLICITY PAMPHLETS Translation Everything in the pamphlet must be in Spanish Last minute arguments could pose timing issues

PUBLICITY PAMPHLETS How many should you order? Publicity pamphlets should be mailed to every household within the political division that contains a registered voter before the earliest date to receive an early ballot Copies to County Elections Good idea to have them at your community centers – other local gathering places

PUBLICITY PAMPHLETS Cover page (different ways to do Spanish) Identify the election type and date Identify responsibility for the election Same info in Spanish (different ways to do Spanish)

PUBLICITY PAMPHLETS Back Cover Return Address Space for mailing address If you are having an Election with polling places Will need to show where to go

PUBLICITY PAMPHLET Innards Letter from the Clerk – explain what the purpose is We opted to include the date information Ours was an all-mail election so we listed ballot drop off and replacement locations Good idea to explain CAPS and crossouts Propositions

PUBLICITY PAMPHLET Innards Arguments – For and Against 19-124D specifies affirmative arguments first, and if this is initiative/referendum, the filing party would go first Fees – considered a deposit to help offset costs of printing and paper – May be hard to determine

PUBLICITY PAMPHLET Innards Sample ballots We included the flyer information for how to vote and return your ballot We had extra pages (comes in factors of 4) so we included a notes page

PUBLICITY PAMPHLET Questions? Mary Ellen Dunn will now present information on a Bond Pamphlet
