Figure 1 The RAF/ERK and PI3K/AKP Pathways Interact to Regulate Protein Synthesis The RAF/ERK and PI3K/AKT pathways can be activated by mutations in key oncogenes or tumor suppressors (orange). These pathways both stimulate 4E-BP1 phosphorylation, which initiates protein synthesis by releasing eIF4E.
