ER and Ribosomes Endoplasmic Reticulum makes up about 50% of the total membrane surface in Eukaryotic cells. ER can be rough or smooth, the difference between them is that rough ER has Ribosomes attached to it and smooth does not have ribosomes attached to it. Ribosomes can be found in eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells, Ribosomes are responsible for making protein for the cell and for outside the cell Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER) is a very important part of the cell, we manufacture the lipids(fats) and protein that we send to the other Organelles. We also make up half of the workforce. Alex
Protein Manufacture The process of protein synthesis starts when the mRNA moves from the nucleus to a ribosome on the surface of the RER. As the ribosome build amino acid chain, the chain is pushed into the cisternal space of the RER. When the proteins are complete, they collect and the RER pinches off a vesicle. Shianne
Smooth and Rough ER Smooth Both Rough production and metabolism of fats and steroid hormones associated with smooth slippery fats cells need both smooth and rough Endoplasmic Reticulum in both animals and plants products made in ER are exported to other organelles protein production protein folding quality control & dispatch studded with ribosomes Aitana (Smooth and Rough) and Abbey (Both)
Unneeded Divisions The Cytoskeleton/Centrioles Division are only microfilaments. These things are only needed for when we have to divide the Nucleus during cell division, thus it’s not a vital part of our everyday production process. What we need right now isn’t to expand our enterprise, it’s to solidify and make it more stable. Those at the Cell Surface/Intercell Communication Division can support this cell just fine on their own. All we have to do is sustain the Nucleus we already have, and our level of efficiency can rise exponentially. If we manage to recover from our financial crises, we would be glad to welcome the Division of Cytoskeleton/Centrioles back into our company. caleb
