OBJECTIVES Identify your current financial situation and the reasons why your are in your current state Identify your short term and long-term goals for migration Value the need for shared-responsibility between men and women in goal setting and decision -making within families 1 2 3 www.atikha.org

FAMILY GOAL SETTING Migrants who were able to achieve their goal for migration are those who were able to discuss their goal for migration as a family. Each member of the family is contributing towards the attainment of the goal. In setting goal for migration, one should be SMART

Achieving goals for migration Migrant and family should agree on the following: Migration goals for/of the migrant and the family members Amount of money needed to achieve these goals Non-financial components needed to achieve the migration goal Time required to achieve goal www.atikha.org

Who is usually in charge of goal setting and decision making in your family? Why? Goal setting and decision making should be a shared responsibility between the migrants and their families left behind. Migrants – especially women and young migrants and their families, including the children – should be consulted and involved in goal setting and decision making.
