Please get out a couple of sheets of graph paper for this lesson!! Piecewise Functions Please get out a couple of sheets of graph paper for this lesson!!

Example 1: For piecewise functions, graph each function as if it were just a regular function. Then, erase the part that is unnecessary. Be sure to label all important points, including the one where it gets erased!

Example 2: You have to know the difference between each of the parent functions!! Quadratics are parabolas, while absolute values are “V’s”. You also have to know how the numbers transform the functions.

Example 3: You have to know the difference between each of the parent functions!! No variables or special symbols indicates a linear function, quadratics are parabolas, and square roots are half of a “sleeping parabola”!
