Transfer Counselor Tenure Track James Aganon and Soraya Sohrabi Fall 2018

Current Status 2478 student with a transfer goal 2311 appointments from Fall 2017 until now All filled Most students need multiple appointments 2 half-time counselors Committees Appointments Workshops Collaboration with other department In Fall 2017 we lost 50% of counseling time

Challenges Not able to support student throughout every step of transfer process 68% of students with a transfer goal are not part of any programs About 700 students enter every semester New initiatives: AB 705 Guided Pathway Limited counseling hours and high demand to support other programs and Counseling Department

Needs Aligning with EMP Increase retention, persistence, and completion Follow up with the students’ transfer needs Contacting students who are not reaching out for counseling Provide guidance and advise at each stage of the education path to complete the complicated transfer process To provide support to newly developed programs based on EMP, such as Promise program To enhance the relations with four-year universities to provide greater opportunities for our students
