Setting the direction for the 10th anniversary DKNOG10 Setting the direction for the 10th anniversary
Building upon a success DKNOG9 was a roaring success, and it was not our first one It clearly shows that the model works, and hard work fosters great conferences
Creating sustainable structures DKNOG10
DKNOG10: More of what we like to do, less of what we don’t Inspired by NLNOG we will try to contract someone to take all the tasks that we do not have the capacity to handle as volunteers These tasks include: Graphic work Daily contact with vendors, sponsors and venue Other practical tasks This work is expected to be contained within the operational budget for DKNOG10, and not from the DKNOG surplus
New structure Board DKNOG10 steering group This year we will try with a more defined, smaller organisation A steering group will be the project oversight A program committee will be self- organising around the content A sponsorship group will ensure that sponsorships remain separate from content Program Committee Sponsorships
Keep growing DKNOG10
What should we change? Given the feedback we have received, it is clear that things can be changed or added to grow DKNOG further However, a lot of it requires further effort from an already busy volunteer group Clearing up some of the volunteer resources with external help may allow further initiatives However additional conference days is not in scope, and would not align well with the community
Ambitions If possible, a better venue would be desireable. Park Inn is good, but we are outgrowing it Both RIPE and NL-IX have had events close to DKNOG. A more coherent «week of Danish Networking» would be desireable, including industry participants and culminating with two days of DKNOG. A possible training day (or half) before DKNOG is something we will explore A hackathon also, but this is on the bottom of the list, and again requires industry drivers outside DKNOG
Financial Last year’s conference generated about 100K DKK in surplus with 200+ participants and two days of conference This remains the target for DKNOG10, and these 100K should cover the cost of external assistance and still remain a good surplus Any further surplus shall be used to offset the entry fee
See you at DKNOG10! March 12-13 2020
