What services does Purdue provide? Receive prescriptions Collaborate with providers to ensure appropriate doses and medications in both LTBI and active TB Prepare prescriptions for shipment Drug information questions

By the numbers…

Initial Orders Electronic prescription or phone in prescription If prescriber is a designee of the county health officer: LHD nurse can phone in order because he/she is acting as the prescriber’s authorized and direct agent If prescriber is a community provider: LHD nurse cannot call the order into Purdue Provider’s office needs to provide the prescription directly to Purdue Pharmacy

Initials Orders Include: Patient allergies Patient weight Confirm dosages based on patient weight Other medications Screen for drug interactions County Where should the medications be shipped?

Shipping Guidelines All initial sets of active or suspect active orders are shipped overnight via FedEx Prescriptions received prior to 2 PM will be shipped same day All refills for both active or suspect active patients and all initials and refill LTBI orders are shipped via USPS Shipping days are Tuesday and Thursd ay of each week

Stocked Medications First-line Agents Second-line Agents Isoniazid Rifampin Rifabutin Rifapentine Pyrazinamide Ethambutol Second-line Agents Cycloserine Ethionamide Levofloxacin Moxifloxacin Linezolid

Non-Stocked Medications Medications like bedaquiline and clofazamine are not stocked at Purdue University Pharmacy If an MDR occurs, the pharmacy and ISDH will work collaboratively to obtain the medications Other medications like amikacin and p-aminosalicylic acid (PASER), can be obtained by the next business day PASER must be refrigerated – special arrangements will be made with ISDH to have medication delivered to local health department
