Popolazione The city has a population of 186.134 spread over 236km2, while the fast-growing urban area numbers 260.000 inhabitants.

Territorio Reggio di Calabria is located on the toe of the Italian Peninsula and is separated by the second oldest city in Italy overall. The third economic center of mainland Southern Italy, it is well known as a port and university city.

History Reggio was one of the most important cities in Magna Grecia, reaching great economic and political power during the 5th and 6th centuries BC under the Anaxilas government. Later, Rhegion allied with Athens during the Peloponnesian War but in 387 BC, the city was taken by the Syracusans.

Climate A Mediterranean climate is the climate typical of most of the lands in the Mediterranean Basin. Worldwide, this is where the largest area of this climate type is found. Beyond the Mediterranean area, this climatic type prevails in much of California, in parts of Western and South Australia, in southwestern South Africa and in parts of central Chile.

The Cathedral The cathedral is the largest religious building in Calabria. This major cultural and artistic region possess a number of Roman and Gothic architecture. This historical site is not only famous for being the seat of Bishop, but also because of its grand look.
