Vocabulary for the Name Jar Theme 1, Week 1 Excited - stirred up Scrunching - squeezing together tightly Groceries - food and other household supplies Signature - a person’s name as written in his or her own handwriting bank account – money kept in the bank embarrassed – made to feel ashamed or ill at ease

Alike – being the same

Weekend – the end of the week; from Friday night through Sunday night

Zipping - (v) going very fast

Sprain – an injury to a joint or muscle caused by a sudden twist

Uniforms – clothes that are exactly alike for everyone

Flipping – (v) turning quickly from one side to the other

background – someone’s family country or past experiences

tradition – a way of doing things handed down from parent’s to children What are some of your family’s traditions?
