Close Reading Analysis Rubric Answers the questions fully and provides an opinion statement addressing the questions. Provides substantial evidence from the excerpt being analyzed including specific diction. Writes insightful explanations connecting the evidence to the assertion. Answers most elements of the questions and provides and opinion statement addressing the questions. Provides sufficient evidence by including relevant details or examples. Writes surface and predictable explanations and analysis connecting the evidence to the assertion. Addresses part of the questions only or with a confusing or underdeveloped statement. Provides basic evidence which may be flawed. Writes overly generalized explanations of the evidence. 1. Does not adequately answer the questions or appears to be confused about how to do so. Provides little or no evidence. Writes confusing explanations of evidence.
