Canada Gazette Directorate Government of Canada Canada Gazette Directorate Seeking Input from Canadians June 5-8, 2005
Canada Gazette Web site New Web site launched on April 1, 2005 Redesigned in-house by staff In response to client feedback received over the past year As you all know, in December 2003, the Government announced the termination of the Sponsorship program and windup of the former Communication Canada. On April 1st 2004, the responsibilities for most of the programs under Communication Canada were transferred to Public Works and Government Services Canada. I was asked to return to you to report on our status and savings. Today I will provide updates on: The programs transferred from the former Communication Canada, both in terms of the services they offer and the savings they provide, and Our progress regarding policy decisions for two sunset programs. Canadians want the best of both worlds: they are clients who expect high quality service and they are also taxpayers who demand we provide these services in an efficient and cost-effective manner. These communications programs help to meet Canadians’ expectations for efficient delivery of timely and accurate information. We have performed an extensive review and I will present three options to you today.
