KEY BIBLICAL TRUTHS CONCERNING TRAGEDY Luke 13:1-5

Luke 13:1-3 There were some present at that very time who told Him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. And He answered them, Do you think these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans, because they suffered in this way? No, I tell you, but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.

Luke 13:4-5 Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them. Do you think that they were worse offenders than all the others who lived in Jerusalem? No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.

1. Tragedies Are Because Of Adam’s Sin

Romans 5:12 Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death (physical and spiritual) through sin, and so death spread to everyone, because all have sinned.

2. Tragedies Are Used Of God For His Purpose

Romans 1:28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done.

1 Corinthians 6:20 For you are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit (mind), which are God's.

John 8:44 …the devil…he was a murderer from the beginning…there is no truth in him…the father of lies.

3. Tragedies Should Remind Us That Repentance Is Urgent

…I tell you, but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish. Luke 13:3, 5 …I tell you, but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.

Isaiah 43:2-3, 5 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through the fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior…Do not fear, for I am with you…

Revelation 17:14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them, for He is Lord of lords, and King of kings, and those who are with Him are called, and chosen, and faithful.
