So what’s the point? Philippians 3:10-11

Is there a unified theory of divine purpose for everything?

Philippians 3:10-11 (NLT) “I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death, 11 so that one way or another I will experience the resurrection from the dead!”

Philippians 3:10-11 (NIV) “I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11 and so, some-how, attaining to the resurrection  from the dead.”

What was the THEME of Philippians 3:1-9? Vs. 9—“… that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith.”

Either we spend our life trying to EARN God’s approval, salvation, and love… OR we spend our life APPRECIATING His approval, salvation and love.

“What’s the whole PURPOSE of your life “What’s the whole PURPOSE of your life? What is it that DRIVES YOU in and through every valley and every mountain of life?” “I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead.” (Philippians 3:10)

…the power of His resurrection …the fellowship of His sufferings

“to know” = (Gk) ginosko/gnonai

Which experiences test our faith more… …the power of His resurrection OR …the fellowship of His sufferings?

the “power of His resurrection” Where are we seeing the “power of His resurrection” at work in our every-day world and lives?

What kind of faith would we have if our only experiences with Christ were in “the power of His resurrection”?

THE FELLOWSHIP OF HIS SUFFERINGS…

What suffering does Jesus want to meet you in right now?

“…becoming like him in his death…”

“…and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead.” (Philippians 3:11)

“…and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead.” (Philippians 3:11)

1. “What, God, do you want to reveal to me about yourself in this experience?” What am I struggling with or having a hard time knowing God relationally in right now? Will I take the journey to find answers? Will I surrender my questions to faith?
